The Duchess of Sussex stunned onlookers with her appearance during a black tie reception hosted by the president of Fiji, Jioji Konrote, last October.

And the dazzling yellow diamond earrings Meghan Markle, 37, wore for the lavish occasion, along with a £1,095 dress by designer designer SAFiYAA, have now been revealed as being by celebrity designer Butani.

At the time Kensington Palace would only say the earrings were 'borrowed' and would not reveal anything more, but recently the bloggers behind Meghans Mirror finally identified the brand.

Now an expert has revealed to FEMAIL that the generously sized multi-tier earrings, could be worth up to £500,000.

An array of celebrities, including Jennifer Lopez, Kate Beckinsale, Rihanna, Christina Hendricks even Michelle Obama have also been spotted wearing the Hong Kong-based brand.

Members of the royal family attending official engagements are not usually seen wearing jewellery borrowed from designers.

Speaking about the opulent earrings,  Deborah Papas, gemologist at Prestige Pawnbrokers of Channel 4's Posh Pawn, said: 'The Duchess of Sussex never ceases to amaze us with the beautiful jewellery she wears.

'In Fiji she chose to wear an absolutely stand-out pair of chandelier style diamond drop earrings in three strands set with white and yellow coloured diamonds.

'Most are round but some are pear shaped to give the stepped drop effect and all set in white gold.

'These drops appear very heavy, almost pulling down the lobe, but sparkle beautifully even with the slightest turn of the head and are truly stunning. They could easily be worth £500,000 or more.'

Explaining the etiquette on royals wearing jewellery, William Hanson told FEMAIL: 'For grand events like state banquets and formal dinners, royalty usually wear more lavish, priceless jewellery.

'For less showy daytime events the 'bling' is often toned down to something more subtle and discrete, with the exception of any engagement or wedding rings.'

He added: 'Royal women do have it very difficult - we all want them to look like royalty but if they wear anything too over the top or expensive they are criticised for being out of touch. They can't win.'

Butani was founded in 1977 by brothers Manoj and Mukesh Butani from Hong Kong.

The brand is popular on the A list circuit, with an array of celebrities seen wearing their jewellery on the red carpet.

Rihanna wore a pair of their earrings in her Love On The Brain video in 2016, which famously saw her soaking in a tub wearing nothing but jagged diamond earrings and black lipstick.

Elsewhere Ariana Grande was pictured wearing a pair of large solitaire studs to the Met Gala in December, while Kate Beckinsale wore a pair of diamond string earrings to the premiere of The Only Living Boy in New York in 2017.

That same year, Jennifer Lopez sported a pair of her trademark hoops embellished with diamonds by the designer for the World of Dance premiere.

Mother keeps daughter, 15, off school after she was banned for wearing a 'medical' stud earring - Daily Mail

Posted: 10 Apr 2019 12:00 AM PDT

An enraged mother has kept her daughter off school for five weeks after the 15-year-old was banned from wearing a 'medical earring'.

Sarize Hill was furious when she was told her daughter Storm Jarrold could not wear the small stud to her Doncaster school.

And has promised a continuing stand-off if Storm cannot wear the jewellery, which she claims helps her cope with severe migraines.

Mrs Hill says Storm may now have to consider moving to another school if the ban on the earring (pictured) is not lifted

She said: 'It's a tiny little stud in her ear but because it's not in the lobe, the school says it is in breach of its policy on jewellery.

'It helps her with her migraines and since she has started wearing it she has been feeling a lot better.

'She's not wearing it as a fashion statement she's wearing it because it helps her feel better.'

Mrs Hill says Storm may now have to consider moving to another school if the ban is not lifted.

She said: 'She has had problems in the past and was bullied and she has had issues with her mental health and has been on medication because of it.

Do earrings help with migraines? What you need to know about a daith piercing

An earring used to help treat migraines is known as a daith piercing - located through the ear's innermost cartilage fold.

The theory of daith piercings helping to alleviate migraine is based on the idea of targeting a specific pressure point and replicating the principle of acupuncture.

Generally, those who seek out the piercings to treat their migraines are people that have found acupuncture helpful but are looking for a long-term solution.

But Dr Fayyaz Ahmed, a neurologist and trustee of The Migraine Trust, has said: 'There is no evidence that daith piercing work to help migraine.'

There are also other complications with regards to getting a piercing such as an infection, swelling and scarring.

'The school used to send her home all the time because she was feeling dizzy and suffering migraines and she was taking a lot of time off.'

Mrs Hill says Storm has had a number of medical appointments with doctors and opticians to determine the cause of the migraines and is due to undergo an operation later this year for a sinus problem.

She said: 'I read up how holistic jewellery can help relieve migraine pain so she got a piercing done, a tiny little stud. I even got her a translucent one so it can't be seen.

'Since then it has worked and at first she had no problems at school.

'It only came to light because she wore her hair up one day and a teacher spotted it.'

Since then, Mrs Hill has kept Year 10 pupil Storm away from Hungerhill School and has had numerous meetings and conversations in a bid to resolve the issue.

She said: 'They just tell me it is against their policy and procedure. They are allowed one small stud in each earlobe and nothing else, even though this one is just a holistic ear-ring that helps her with her migraines.

'I just want Storm back in school. They have told me that they will consider moving her to another school. I think that the school just doesn't like Storm and she's been victimised for it.'

Helen Redford-Hernandez, headteacher at Hungerhill School (pictured), has said that there is a 'clear uniform policy which includes a section on the wearing of jewellery'

Helen Redford-Hernandez, headteacher at Hungerhill School (pictured), has said that there is a 'clear uniform policy which includes a section on the wearing of jewellery'

Helen Redford-Hernandez, headteacher at Hungerhill School, said: 'We have a clear uniform policy which includes a section on the wearing of jewellery.

'This is published on our website under the section for parents and, is shared widely with parents, carers and students through regular newsletters, assemblies and other communications.

'The policy is understood and followed by the majority of our parents, who are very supportive and understand the need to make sure their children wear our uniform correctly and with pride.

'Our belief is that the uniform sets a clear standard of personal appearance and students are expected to comply with the policy at all times.

'It is with regret that, occasionally, the policy is not adhered to; in this case, we may ask students to go home and change, or, invite parents in for a meeting to resolve the issue.'
